Allegra (Fexofenadine) belongs to the class of medications called antihistamines.

Allegra (Fexofenadine) is similar to other second – generation antihistamines, such as: Antihistamines Loratadine (Claritin), Cetirizine (Zyrtec) and Azelastine (Astelin). Allegra (Fexofenadine) is a coloured mixture of white and off – white crystalline powder.

Allegra (Fexofenadine) is freely soluble in: Methanol and Ethanol

Allegra (Fexofenadine) is slightly soluble in: Chloroform and Water

Allegra (Fexofenadine) is insoluble in: Hexane

Take Allegra (Fexofenadine) exactly as directed.

Contact your pediatrician or health care professional for use of this medicine in children.

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause a cough

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause a fever

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause a stuffy nose

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause earache

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause dizziness

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause a rash

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause itching

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause a swelling

Allegra (Fexofenadine) may cause troubled breathing

Rare Cases of Hypersensitivity Reactions with Manifestations such as:

Allegra (Fexofenadine) causes rare cases of manifestations such as, Angioedema

Allegra (Fexofenadine) causes rare cases of manifestations such as, Chest tightness

Allegra (Fexofenadine) causes rare cases of manifestations such as, Dyspnoea

Allegra (Fexofenadine) causes rare cases of manifestations such as, Flushing

Allegra (Fexofenadine) causes rare cases of manifestations such as, Systemic anaphylaxis

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

medicines for mental problems/anxieties/psychotic disturbances
medicines for mental depression
medicines for hay fever/other allergies
medicines for anxiety/sleeping problems
ketoconazole
grapefruit/apple/orange juice
erythromycin
barbiturate medicines for sleep or treating seizures
antacids
alcohol

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

Antacids:
Allegra (Fexofenadine) should not be consumed simultaneously with antacids containing aluminum and magnesium.
Erythromycin and Ketoconazole:
Allegra (Fexofenadine) is known to exhibit minimal metabolism. But, when Allegra (Fexofenadine) has been administered simultaneously with either Ketoconazole or Erythromycin; the combination has led to increased plasma concentrations of Allegra (Fexofenadine) in healthy adult patients. Allegra (Fexofenadine) has no effect on the pharmacokinetics of either Erythromycin or Ketoconazole.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

Kidney disease
Heart problems (QT prolongation)

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

Fexofenadine is used to relieve hay fever and allergy symptoms, including runny nose; sneezing; and red, itchy, tearing eyes.

Allegra (Fexofenadine) Indications:

Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis:
Allegra (Fexofenadine) is administered to patients by health care professionals for the relief of symptoms associated with Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis in adults and in the case of children two years of age and older.

Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria:
Allegra (Fexofenadine) is also prescribed by health care professionals in the case of treatment for uncomplicated skin manifestations of Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria in adults and in the case of children six months of age and older.

Allegra (Fexofenadine) medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Consult your health care professional about having grapefruit/apple/orange whilst on a course with this medicine, in any form.

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

Caution is advised by health care professionals when using Allegra (Fexofenadine) in the case of the elderly as they may be more sensitive to the effects of Allegra (Fexofenadine).

Allegra (Fexofenadine) should be used by the patient only under the supervision of their health care professional and only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
