Astelin

Astelin - Description

Astelin (Azelastine) may be described as an h1 – receptor antagonist, which relieves one’s symptoms by blocking the effects of Histamine. This medication may also be described as a white, crystalline and an almost odorless powder.

Furthermore, Astelin (Azelastine) may also be described as a steroid – free powder which is known to have a bitter taste, does not contain pseudo ephedrine, is sparingly soluble in water, Methanol or Propylene Glycol and is slightly soluble in Ethanol, Octanol or Glycerin.


	Astelin - Uses Astelin (Azelastine) is used in the treatment of a runny or stuffy nose and sneezing due to allergies.


	How to Use Astelin Take Astelin (Azelastine) exactly as directed and be sure to consult your health care professional pertaining to the use of this medication in children. This medication must not be administered to a child younger than five years of age. Furthermore, do not suddenly discontinue Astelin (Azelastine) without prior confirmation from your health care professional.

Astelin - Side effects

While on an ongoing course of Astelin (Azelastine) if you notice any of the symptoms listed below, or any other symptoms which may seem severe or persistent, you must contact your health care professional.

Sometimes, Astelin (Azelastine) may cause the patient to experience drowsiness, mild headaches, sneezing, a sore throat, nasal burning and a dry mouth.

Furthermore, Astelin (Azelastine) may cause the patient to experience mild fluctuations in one’s mood, diarrhea, numbness or a tingling sensation in the hands and feet, an altered sense of smell, marginal weight gain and nausea.

Astelin - Interactions

If you are on an ongoing course of Astelin (Azelastine) before you commence taking any new medication (either prescription or OTC), you must first consult your health care professional or pharmacist.

	Astelin - Overdose In case of an overdose of Astelin (Azelastine), call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Astelin - Notes

Your health care professional will order certain laboratory and/or medical tests to be performed to check your response to Astelin (Azelastine), monitor your progress and check for side effects. You must also be sure to keep all appointments with your health care professional and the laboratory.
