Prednisolone

Prednisolone is a corticosteroid.

Prednisolone may be described as a white to off – white, powder, crystalline and an odorless powder.

Moreover, Prednisolone may also be described as partially being able to dissolve in water, alcohol, Chloroform, Dioxane and Methanol.

Prednisolone is used to treat severe allergies, arthritis, asthma, and skin conditions.

frequent passing of urine
increased thirst
irregular heartbeat
menstrual problems
mental depression
unusual increased growth of hair on the face/body
other signs of infection
muscle cramps/weakness
nausea/vomiting
pain in hips, back, ribs, arms, shoulders, or legs
rounding out of face
skin problems, acne, thin and shiny skin
stomach pain
swelling of feet/lower legs
unusual bruising/pinpoint red spots on the skin
unusual tiredness/weakness
weight gain or weight loss
mood swings
decreased/blurred vision
bloody/black/tarry stools
confusion/excitement/restlessness
bulging eyes/eye pain

Sometimes, Prednisolone may even cause headaches, dizziness, insomnia, compression fractures (bone pain), heart burn and palpitations.

Prednisolone may even further still cause fever, a persistent sore throat, troubled breathing, rashes, a severe itching sensation and body swellings.

Sometimes, Prednisolone may even cause Buffalo Hump (rounding of the upper back), depression, obesity, euphoria, growth retardation in children and retention of Sodium.

Prednisolone may even further still cause convulsions, loss of potassium, Hypokalemic Alkalosis, Aseptic Necrosis of femoral and humeral heads, increased sweating and ringing in one’s ears.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

water pills
certain heart medicines
live virus vaccines/other toxoids and vaccines
medicines for diabetes
phenytoin
rifabutin
rifampin
warfarin

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.
Prednisolone interacts with various medications, such as, Aldesleukin, Natalizumab, Aspirin, Estrogens, Indomethacin, Ibuprofen and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Moreover, Prednisolone further still interacts with Furosemide, Azole antifungals, Macrolide antibiotics, Rifamycin, certain anti – seizure medications, Troleandomycin and Ketoconazole.

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

Prednisolone is also used to help treat blood disorders, certain types of cancers, eye disorders and immune system diseases. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from heat and moisture.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

previous heart attack
high blood pressure
glaucoma
cushing`s syndrome
diabetes
heart problems
blood clotting disorder
infections(such as herpes/measles/tuberculosis/chickenpox)
myasthenia gravis
psychosis
osteoporosis
recent surgery
seizures
stomach/intestinal disease(including colitis)
under-active thyroid
cataracts

It is very important for the patient to know that before consuming Prednisolone they must inform their health care professional if they have ever had a history of or are currently suffering from untreated active fungal infections, Malaria, bleeding disorders and Ocular Herpes infection.

Moreover, it is very important for the patient to know that before consuming Prednisolone they must inform their health care professional if they have ever had a history of or are currently suffering from kidney diseases, Threadworm problems, Cirrhosis (a severe liver disease) and Diverticulitis.

Lastly, it is very important for the patient to know that before consuming Prednisolone they must be aware of the fact that this medication does pass into breast milk.
